I will be traveling with a group of teenagers from Munich to Interlaken in August, 2008, and would like assistance finding the easiest route by train. I would also like to be able to purchase the tickets BEFORE getting to Europe – is this possible?

I do. I’m an American and I’m fully convinced that America is the best country around. But, as an avid traveller, I always feel the urge to move to certain countries that I visit–Britain, Israel, or Mexico, for example. The only thing that keeps me from doing so is that fact that these countries are not America. And everything I love about America can only be found IN America. So I stay…albeit feeling a let down. Once you get the urge to move away you can’t just ignore it.
Does that sound totally whacky or can you relate?
There are two big things I’d miss that are uniquely American:
1.) The freedoms. I don’t know anywhere else where you can be born poor or born to the wrong family or born in whatever adverse circumstances and still be able to make with your life whatever you want. That’s special.
2.) Our values. Of most, if not all, western nations, only America still clings to the eternals like faith and family. Europe is in such trouble! Yikes! I love the UK–like the lady below–but that country is in such disrepair. That’s the problem. Where’s the spirit? The optimism? Only in America–that’s the problem.
I need to travel from Basel, Switzerland to Munich, Germany. I would prefer the cheapeast way possible. Any suggestions?
Could you please tell me the difference between the munich putsch and the kapp putsch, in detail if you can including dates.?

I’m going to Neuschwanstein castle on August 24th, does anyone know how I would get there from Munich via public transport, and how much this would cost?

As the question says i need to know which is the most convenient area of Munich to stay in for these things( it will be a youth hostel).Ideally we’d be able to get to the sights and the nightlife without having to take trains or taxis everywhere. Also we’re going in the summer , are there any good open air pools or man made beaches nearby ?
When I was in Munich a few years ago, I stopped into a small coffee/tea shop and got a drink that tasted like chai tea. The woman also added juice to it that looked and tasted like orange juice. I’ve been trying to find out what this drink was, as my memory fails me in recalling the name. Would anyone happen to know?
The only similar things I have found in searching online are recipes for spiced wine or Glogg.
I was planning to travel on an overnight train (to save money and to give me an extra day in Munich), but if the scenery is worth it, I will take the daytime train instead.

I’m taking a trip to Munich, and I have been learning High German for about four years. I’m great with speaking it, but my reading and writing is a problem. Someone told me over there, the language is alot like Austrian/Swiss German, and I wanted to know if there were any big differences between standard German and the dialect spoken in Munich?

Hi
My husband and I are avid trekkers and travellers and have seen some exotic places that are not on in any tourist maps. We would love to get a book published and was wondering how to get sponsorship on same.
Any information on the process would be a lot of help
Thanks

I need to buy an airplane ticket to the UK for next summer, I know, in top travel season. But I was wondering if anybody knew how early I should buy it. The prices are higher than I’ve ever seen them before for next summer and I have been there several times. Is anyone an avid traveller to UK or to Europe that knows when the best time of year to buy tickets is? I heard that the airlines bought a ton of fuel in bulk last summer when the fuel prices were at their highest, thinking they would go up. Well they didn’t, and I heard they are passing off their loss to us consumers. Does anyone know when they will be able to buy more fuel and stop overcharging us?

The bus does not stop at Marienplatz but it stops at Hauptbahnhof. We will have a seven hour layover in Munich, and during our seven hour layover we want to go to the Marienplatz to eat at Hofbrauhaus. What is the fastest and most convenient way to go to the Marienplatz during our layover and return to the airport? Let me know.

I have written my first manuscript and sent off the first couple chapters (as per their submission guidelines) to a nearby publisher. They said their turnaround time is approximately 4 months but it’s been 5 and a half since I sent it and haven’t heard back from them. I have done research on how to get a book published and one of the big no-nos is to call the publisher to see how they are making out with the manuscript. (Apparently publisher’s view this as the author being a newbie and unprofessional.) I am scared that it may have gotten lost and because they don’t accept simultaneous submissions I can’t submit it to anyone else until they get back to me.
Should I continue to wait it out or phone them up just to see if they give replies one way or the other? Or ask them the dreaded “How are you making out with my submission?” question?
I sent it snail mail on March 7th and received an email reply from the editor on the 27th of March indicating that it was received and the approximate wait time.
I am looking for a word made just for it. not like “traveller”, “avid traveller” or whatever…

I wrote this romantic thriller… I’ve sent, whatever they asked in guidelines, to several publishers.
Now, can someone please explain to me the merits and demerits of going with a small publication?
Can they sell a book like a big publication house does?
I’ve written a short story that was too many words to meet the guidelines of a specific publisher I wanted to publish under but it was far too short to meet the requirements of a book. I’m presently shortening the story as much as I can without putting too much shame to the original but it looks like it will still be too long. Can anyone tell me of a publisher willing to publish a 12,000 word short story?

I have found a lot of good information in the writers market for my novel. I am aware of the individual guidelines for submission each publisher may have. However I’m not sure if I should wait for replies one at a time or submit to multiple publishers all at once.

Say you have a set of numbers {2,4,9,11,14,15,21,32,45} how would I calculate the total number of subsets of 3 numbers. minus all the repeated subsets ie {2,4,9}{2,9,4}{4,2.9} etc
sincerely yours.
