If you aren’t tracking your online Advertising results how do you know what is working and where you are wasting your money. You don’t plain and simple. The sad part is lots of folks out there don’t have a clue how to do it let alone how easy it is.
Let’s get to it!! You have a web page you are trying to market. You have decided you are going to do some direct emails, post on newsgroups and higher a company to send you traffic. So you purchase dome email list spend a bunch of time posting to groups and drop some cash with the traffic company.
Great news!! You are getting sales however with the time and money you are spending getting traffic you are not making what you wanted. How do you figure out which marketing strategy is producing?
It’s easy. Each strategy will have its own landing page on your web site that instantly redirects that traffic to the main landing page. The individual landing pages take a few seconds to make and almost no room on your web site. Here are some made up examples.
1. www.secrets-are-revealed-project.combutterflymarketingemail.htm
2. www.secrets-are-revealed-project.combutterflymarketingnewsgroups.htm
3. www.secrets-are-revealed-project.combutterflymarketingemailtraffic.htm
When I send out the direct emails I use the link shown as number one. For the Newsgroups I use the link shown as number two. For the purchased traffic I use the link number three.
Now when you go to your web hosting console and do a report you can see exactly how many visitors are going to your main page and which link they came from.
Some of you may be asking. How do I do a redirect? I am going to show you thru FrontPage; however its outcome will be the same for any other web creation tool just do a help question under your tool for redirects.
Create a new blank web page then save it to your website using a naming conve10tion that will remind you what marketing strategy you are using. So for the example above I would have three blank web pages named as followed.

butterflymarketingnewsgroups.htm
butterflymarketingemailtraffic.htm
Once created I open each page and do the following. Put a 0 where the X is in the line below that is what causes the redirect to happen instantly.
Here is the directions FrontPage gives when you type redirect in the help menu.
1. “In Page view, at the bottom of the document window, click Design .
2. Right-click the page, and then click Page Properties on the shortcut menu.
3. Click the Custom tab.
4. Under System variables (HTTP-EQUIV), click Add.
5. In the Name box, type REFRESH.
6. In the Value box, type the following:
x; URL=http://xyz.com
Where x equals the number of seconds before the redirection takes place, and xyz.com equals the page to which you want to redirect the current page.
Click OK.”

This will be your main landing page it will be the same for all three blank pages you created earlier.
That’s it your done. Promote your product with all three strategies then in a few days open your web page console and do a report. Your reports should show the pages viewed and the visits they received. Now you know who is producing and who is not.
