Search Engine Optimization Block

Some days you just have to think, what it is going to take to get to the end of the tunnel. I remember when I was a small boy. I was working with my father at the time. He, my father set me down in front of a block of concrete, gave me a hammer and a stone chisel and told me to cut along a line that divided the block in half.

Some days you just have to think, what it is going to take to get to the end of the tunnel. I remember when I was a small boy. I was working with my father at the time. He, my father set me down in front of a block of concrete, gave me a hammer and a stone chisel and told me to cut along a line that divided the block in half. I did as he instructed. I placed the chisel on the line and began to hit it. Clank! I hit it once, nothing happened. It didn’t even leave a mark. Clank! I hit it again without a dent. Clank! Clank! Clank! Again and again I hit that block with little to show for my effort. I was just about to give up when I heard my father say over my shoulder, hit it again. I did, clank! Only this time a chip shot out off of the block. So I hit again, then another chip. Chip after chip, clank after clank I went on. Then to my surprise and relief the block cracked in to two pieces. Of course the brake was not exactly in the right place, but I did it.

Search engine optimization is just like that block of concrete. And all of us webmasters and SEO managers and specialist are like a small child figuratively speaking. We are sitting here clanking away at a concrete block known as the search engines, trying to chisel away at the number one spot. We tweak, building link after link not seeing a bit of movement or growth. We write content after content and article after article. We link bait, exchange links and create three way links, chipping away at that concrete block known as Google.

If you’re l
ike most you, get so frustrated and start to wonder if it is truly possible to reach the first page of Google or not. Some get tired and quit, that’s ok. But most often they quit just short of the finish line.

What they needed was someone, anyone to lean over their shoulder and encourage then to hit it again, just give it one more try. If they had, they might have noticed a chip in the stone. Maybe it’s that one extra back link that they could have gotten or the one missing alt text that pushed their webpage up to the next page, but if they hadn’t quit they might have seen the momentum.

It can be so frustrating to have a really great, well optimized website just sitting back on the 3rd page, stuck in the 32nd position day after day. It seems that no matter how many back link you get or how well you tweak your on page content it won’t budge. I have been there. There is hope. The thing to remember is, in a highly completive niche there are a lot of people just like you working their fingers to the bone wanting the top spot. Don’t give up. Hit it again. If you keep at it you will see that on the day when you least expect it, your webpage will appear on the first page. All it takes it a little knowhow, patience and a whole lot of hard work.
