The Apple iPhone is more than just a mobile phone. When you invest in an iPhone you will get a 2MP camera and an ipod with at least 4GB all rolled in to one gadget. The iPhone is a lightweight and small portable device, yet it is packed with a whole bunch of great features, too many to mention here but here are a few of my favourites.
Large screen
It comes with a 3.5-inch 480 x 320 touchscreen display that incorporates multi-touch support and a proximity sensor to turn the screen off when close to your face. It also has something called an ambient light sensor in iPhone automatically brightens the display when you’re in sunlight or a bright room and dims it in darker places.
Visual voicemail feature
This iPhone also comes with a very nice voicemail function. It’s called visual voicemail. With the visual voicemail feature you can go to any message directly without having to listen to the other messages first. This is one of the really good iPhone features. You no longer have to waste time listening to other messages first.
iPhone internet feature
The latest 3G iPhone uses 3G technology to access the internet using something called HSDPA which is a high speed data transfer feature. The iPhone 3G meets worldwide standards for mobile communications, so you can make calls and surf the web from practically anywhere on the planet. And if you’re in an area without a 3G network, iPhone still connects you via GSM for calls and EDGE for data. It has some really great pre loaded features for example you can Get stock quotes and weather reports with a tap. Use Notes to jot down information you want to keep with you, remember for later or share via email.
Ipod and video
With its large 3.5-inch widescreen display and Multi-Touch controls, iPhone is also an amazing ipod. Browse your music in Cover Flow and watch widescreen video with the touch of a finger. You can listen to your music by Scrolling through songs, artists, albums and playlists with a flick. Browse your music library by album artwork using Cover Flow. Even view song lyrics that you’ve added to your library in iTunes and if you get a call while listening to music, no problem. A pinch of the microphone on your iPhone headset pauses the tune and answers the call. As for videos, well, iPhone brings you a video experience unlike any other portable device. You can watch TV shows and movies from the iTunes Store on the 3.5-inch widescreen display. Just tap to bring up video controls whenever you need them.
Applications
Here comes the really fun part, with over 15,000 applications and games that you can download (cost varies some are even free), there is something for everyone. For example there’s an expenses calculator and tracker called xspense it. Currency converters for the travellers among you. You can also download loads of eBooks to read while travelling. Not to mention all the games. There really are too many downloads to mention here.
So there you have it, the iphone does just about everything (except make you a nice cuppa). Whether you buy one or get one with your contract, I’m sure you’ll be amazed at what this little baby can do. You will spend hours playing with it and discovering a whole load of new things to do on it. There is never a dull moment with the iphone. Oh and yes, it does take and make calls as well, which is easy to forget considering every thing else it does. And with a brand name like Apple, you really can’t go wrong.
